While blogsurfing today, I found this post, which has a list of qualifications to enter some blogging project.
I couldn’t believe it, but one of the qualifications is that your posts have to have TYPOS in them. This supposedly makes the posts “more real.”

Excuse me?

When I see a post with typos in it, I don’t think to myself “Wow, what a genuine post. This must be for real!”

Likewise, when I see a well-written post, I don’t think “Ew, this looks fake.”

Instead, I respect authors who take the time to proofread their posts and catch typos and grammatical errors. When I catch a typo in one of MY posts that somehow slipped through, I am mortified.

Granted, we’re all imperfect, and an accidental typo is bound to creep in occasionally. But to purposely leave them in there, for the sake of appearing more “genuine”, this seems misguided and wrong to me.

I’m interested in your opinion on this. Tell me, do you think typos make a post appear more “real” to you?
When you read a post with plenty of mistakes in it, does it create a more favorable impression?
.

Well, actually, I’m not sure I can, but I’m about to find out.
Adam, over at Ah Ok Lah, is offering to do a 50 word critique of your blog. All you have to do is put up a link to him. Adam actually has a good serious intelligent blog over there, so I admit I’m a little frightened to see what he might think of my two blogs. After all, you guys know how I can be sometimes.
Anyway, I decided to take the plunge. I’ve got my link to Adam here, and I’ve told him to go ahead and rip me to shreds. Er, I mean, I told him to give his honest opinion.
Could be the same thing.
Check his blog to see what he says!
.

UPDATE: Here’s his review! He discussed both blogs, (Jannaverse and Jantics) in the same post.

My blog review today is for Kelly, over at http://www.lifeaskelly.com/. .
She used to be on Blogspot, but recently moved to her own domain! Yay Kelly!
Reading through her blog, I’ve decided that she and I would probably get along pretty well. I like the way she talks about things. Here are some of my favorite quotes so far:

“People are getting on my NERVES at work today. Seriously. Makes me feel like I forgot to take my meds or something this morning.”

“So Wittle Paris is in jail. Oh my goodness, I hope those polyester jumpsuits don’t scar her too badly emotionally.”

“It’s no secret that I’m glad not to be living in FL anymore.” (I don’t know why that one struck me funny but it did!!)

And I love how there is actually a post titled “I Have Done Exactly Nothing Today.” Some days I think a lot of my own posts deserve that title too!

I got a kick out of the post where she and Jon went out for dinner, and the waitress called the ketchup her “french fry sauce.” Was that supposed to make it sound a little classier? LOL!

And you’ve heard of the whole “six degrees of separation” phenomenon? How you think someone’s a stranger but it turns out that actually you know somebody who knows somebody (etc etc etc) who knows them? Well, imagine my pleasant surprise when I looked at her sidebar and saw that she’s linked to my very favorite PPP blog of all time: Pointless Directives. We have something in common, Kelly!

So go check her out! Life As Kelly sounds fun!

Today my review is about http://eternalflux.blogspot.com/ .
First of all, I love the title. Eternal Flux is a good descriptive term for life in general, as evidenced by this blog’s subtitle: “The only true constant is change, it’s how we deal with it that matters.”
It’s a new blog from an author who has a few other cyber-irons in the fire, so to speak. She describes this as her “Nth” blog.

For a quick introduction you can visit her recent “8 Things About Me” meme. There you will see a picture of a spider tattoo somewhere on her anatomy (Go see!), You will also learn that she’s wiccan, her hair is long enough to tie in a knot, and she’s a survivor of at least three suicide attempts. Plus there’s more!

After viewing her very first Thursday Thirteen, it appears that she and I agree on a few movies as well.

Go check it out. Tell her Janna from Jantics sent you. She may have no idea what that means, but at least it sounds fun to say.

Today I’m going to review the blog http://www.tylercruz.com/.

The subtitle is “An Internet Entrepreneur’s Journey”. It’s full of all sorts of ideas related to the topic of entrepreneurship based on online activities such as blogging. I will admit that this is not my area of expertise. Business and its associated techno-speak are not yet in my comfort zone. I realize this may be a hurdle I need to overcome if I’m to have any success with my new blogging venture.

Still, Tyler’s blog had some posts I could appreciate and take to heart. Here are just a few that I found interesting:

This post talks about domain names. Some people try to make money by buying the rights to unused domain names they think are particularly clever. Tyler cautions against this, stating that all too often, the supposedly-clever name ends up being a loser. He makes the important points that “Cute is seldom profitable” and “Copycats seldom succeed.” Also, don’t bother buying a domain name if you have to EXPLAIN to someone why it’s clever.

In this post and this post he speaks honestly about some of the regrets he’s had during his ongoing journey as an internet entrepreneur.

In this post he alerts us to a DMCA scammer out there, and relates the story of how this particular scammer affected him personally.

Someday I hope to be as savvy as Tyler about the opportunities available in cyberspace. After all, I think it would be wonderful to describe myself as a successful internet entrepreneur.
