Scooby Deux

In last week’s Manic Monday post, I mentioned Scooby Doo.  This week the theme is “ghost“, which also fits in well with Scooby.

One of my favorite cartoons from childhood was Scooby Doo.  (The original one, not the many annoying varieties that came later).  I still love it these days too, though now I can find humor in it too.
For example,  Scooby and Shaggy always acted terrified of ghosts.  They’d shiver and quake whenever anyone even mentioned the word “monster” or “ghost”.  Yet, time after time, the presumed ghoul would always, always end up being a person trying to trick them.
You’d think they’d catch on after awhile.
But no.
The next episode it all starts again, with them being just as fearful.  I never thought about this when I was a kid, but it amuses me now.
It could’ve been like this instead:

Museum Keeper: “Beware, there’s a ghost here now who haunts the Mesopotamia exhibit.”

Shaggy: *yawn*  “No, man.  It’s no ghost.  It’s your pale assistant Hogarth over there with the pale expression and the creepy voice and bad haircut.  Search his room; you’ll probably find the costume there.  He’s trying to scare people away from the Mesopotamia exhibit because of the rare “Fish Liver Diamond”, which he’s hidden away in one of the vases along with a crusty old sock that probably needs to be DNA tested.  Everybody ready to leave now?  Let’s go.  Scooby and I have the munchies.”

Scooby: “Rooby Rooby Rooo!”

That will be a very short cartoon. Might upset the advertisers pushing sugars and fats to the comatose kiddies.

Daughter and kids still love some Scooby so it is usually always on when they are here.

Jamie: We can solve that by having a couple dozen super-short episodes crammed into the half-hour, with commercials in between each one.

    Brit: Hee! Me too!

    Mik: I’m 38 and I still love Scooby. :)
