Speaking of pie, does anyone else remember the old days when McDonald’s pies were deep fried instead of baked? They were crispy and delicious and probably had enough fat and calories to stop the heart of a freight train.
But wow, they were good.
Now they’re just sort of “ok”, which is why I rarely have them anymore.
No doubt my arteries are grateful.
McDonald’s could deep-fry almost anything and make it popular.
Look for “McBroccoli” at a location near you.

As long as they don’t start doing deep-fried Snickers or crap like that.

I just came across your blog today. Hilarious stuff. I even included a link to you in my blog post for today.

In mourning now for loss of the deep-fried apple….

I came from Joe Crotchety, and will stay and have a look around. He has good taste.
PS – do McDonald’s really deep fry broccoli in your neck of the woods, or is that a broccoli-is-disgusting joke? I don’t really get those usually, because I actually love the stuff!

Posted 24 Sep 2008 at 10:39 pm ¶you can deep fry just about everything. just make yourself a nice tempura type batter (flour, seltzer/beer/champagne, and a bit of sugar if you’re doing sweet stuff) dip to coat and drop in the oil. you’d wanna use something flavour nuetral like canola. twinkies are pretty amazing for the crispy and soft textures. oreos are neat. candy tends to get gooey. use the “fun size” which aren’t fun at all but conveniently sized for such an application.

Jenn: Sad, isn’t it?
Jay: As of yet, McDonalds doesn’t deep fry broccoli. But I bet at some point they’ve thought about it.
Marilyn: Even if it was breaded and crispy with a delightful dipping sauce?
Chris: I’ve heard about deep fried twinkies but have never tried one. Perhaps someday I will have to just go ahead and bite the bullet. Er, I mean, the twinkie. The most unique deep-fried thing I ever had was macaroni and cheese. Pretty good, actually.
