On my way back from ABC group tonight, I stopped at the gas station to get a bottle of water, because I knew I didn’t have any beverages left at home.
My tap water is nasty, and I know better than to drink anything that comes out of my faucet.
So I got my bottle of water and waited at the checkout counter. Next to the counter is this display of various kinds of jerky.
There were the usual kinds, like hot and spicy jerky, barbecue jerky, smoked jerky, etc.
And then I noticed something that made me cringe.
Cherry Maple Turkey Jerky.
I know cherry glaze can sometimes be good on pork chops, so I’m not totally unfamiliar with the mixing of fruit and meats.
But somehow my first impression, when I saw the label, was that “Cherry Maple Turkey Jerky” is a perfect example of things that should not be in the same sentence together, much less the same package.
Am I out of line here?
What do you all think?
Does it sound tasty to you, or does it sound revolting?

Sounds good to me, but then I’m weird so go figure.
Posted 28 Nov 2007 at 1:33 pm ¶My anti-spam word was “yummy” so I suppose I should make a case for cherry maple turkey jerky…
Posted 28 Nov 2007 at 2:31 pm ¶nope… just can’t.
NOW if it was cherry maple gator jerky, we might just have a party! Or a Par-Tay, as the case might be.
The anti-spam machine seems to be in favor of the flavor… I got Yummy too.
I don’t think it sounds good. I like all of those flavors independantly but put any two together… even maple and cherry and I don’t think so.

Turnbaby: Yes! The hotter the better!

Posted 03 Dec 2007 at 1:37 pm ¶SocialCitizen: I like jerky, but somehow this bizarre flavor combination is a turn-off for me. Probably the worst of it is the maple. I’m not a big fan of maple.
