I promise not to breathe on you if I become contagious

The flu and cold season is upon us.
I haven’t gotten sick yet,  but a couple of my friends have.

I’ve never had a flu shot, ever.  (Have you?)

Somehow the idea creeps me out, probably because of the following reasons:
1) They have to inject a teeny bit of the flu INTO you so you can develop resistance.  I know, I know, that’s how resistance works, but still, it seems a bit revolting.
2) From what I understand, they make part of the serum from the albumin of raw eggs.  I hate raw eggs.  I won’t eat unbaked cookie dough or cake batter because of raw eggs.  And don’t even get me started on mayonnaise.  Actually, I hate mayo because I can’t stand the taste, but the whole “raw egg” dimension gives me added reason to hate it as well.

I realize these probably sound like stupid reasons to avoid getting a flu shot.  That’s ok.  I also have other reasons, like laziness and apathy.

Please send me a nice card when I eventually get sick.

    I avoid them too. My reasoning, I’ve had the flu and it’s never killed me, so it seems ludicrous to make myself sick in order to avoid becoming sick. Might as well develop an immunity to the full blown strain of the little nasty bug.

    As to vaccinations for things that can cripple or kill, yeah, I’m all for getting those.

    However I like my fried eggs over easy or sunny side up and I’ll always eat cookie, cake and pie filling with raw eggs in them.
