I wonder where her gun is….

My mother loved to practice target shooting when she was younger (teens, early 20′s). She was really good at it, and often did better than others with whom she was competing. Keep in mind that this was back in the 1950′s and 60′s, when women weren’t supposed to be better than men at anything. But mom didn’t care. She did her best no matter what.
Once or twice she’d go target-shooting with a guy she was dating, and the guy would get annoyed that mom did better than he did.
When mom told Grampa about the guy’s reaction, Grampa said “Well, sometimes you have to let the guy win.”
I’m glad Mom didn’t listen.
I admire her for always doing her best, no matter what, even in something as simple as that.
To this day I’ve never fired a gun, but once in awhile I think it might be fun to try some target practice. The kind of stuff Mom used to do.
Who knows, maybe I inherited my mom’s good aim!
And, of course, her impeccable sense of safety. :)
