Mom and Dad are going on a vacation up north for the next 5 days. They’ll travel up to Mackinac Bridge and spend some time in the upper peninsula.
It must be fun to be able to schedule vacations like that whenever you want to. Dad’s retired, and Mom owns her own business, so both of them have almost complete control of their schedules.
If I could plan my own little vacation I’d probably pick someplace cool. Not necessarily cool as in “popular,” but cool as in “not hot or humid.”
The upper peninsula is nice.
Lots of trees up there.
(Seriously, there are a TON of trees. Maybe two tons. Or three.)
Best of all, it’s usually not all that hot.
You go ahead and have your tropical vacations, I’ll just go up north.

one MAJOR flaw to your logic about a summer vacation in florida…to get to the shopping places and yummy restaurants you have to leave your wonderful air conditioning and walk in the beastly heat to a car that most likely has been baking in the sun. blech!
